Perth is the most remote capital city in the world, even though the Society is the only one of its kind in Australia. It is essential, therefore, to tap into world best-practices in a number of occupational health issues. The Society intends to form as many valuable connections through membership, affiliation, functions, and joint agreements.
One of the areas of interest, which is always a topic of debate, is working hours, shift work, fatigue, and commuting. The Working Time Society, which is a subcommittee of the International Occupational Commission on Health, is a valuable conduit of information.
Naturally, universities in Western Australia that provide higher education in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Studies have an important role to play in providing the Society's members for the future.
